China’s crackdown on gamblers is being extended beyond Macau to Taiwan.

Chinese citizens will not be allowed to gamble in Taiwan if the government there allows casinos, the Xinhua news agency reports. China says gambling is prohibited by trade agreements between the mainland government and Taiwan.

China President Xi Jingping had suggested for several months that the country wouldn’t let regional countries poach its players as the Philippines, South Korea, Australia, Russia and other countries develop casinos in part based on attracting Chinese players.
