G2E Asia got off to a good start today at the Venetian in Macau.

With business still declining in Macau and a rival exhibition in November, one could be forgiven for thinking that the show may have lost a bit of its sparkle. However, visitor numbers looked healthy on day one and most exhibitors appeared to be doing business.

The fact is that Macau may not be doing as well as it has in the past but it is still the world’s leading casino gaming venue by a huge margin. And elsewhere in Asia markets such as the Philippines and Vietnam continue to expand and Japan, despite the hiccups, is still proving to have huge potential.

A first for G2E Asia was the inclusion of the Asian Dealer Championships, organised by Asia Gaming Brief, which got under way on the first afternoon, with tables supplied by TCS John Huxley (pictured is the company’s Tracy Cohen) and chips by Gaming Partners International. The launch attracted a large crowd to the top corner of the trade show floor.
