The group paid out a total of €2.43bn in prize money and winnings in 2014 – the largest amount in its history – and also paid €552m in tax. Group earnings climbed to €41.7m.

Chairman Karl Stoss was clear on the reasons behind the positive results: “We introduced many measures, launched new products and further increased our efficiency.

“Strengthened by these extremely gratifying results, we can now continue to work with full force on the future of this great group of companies,” he said.

For Casinos Austria specifically, 2014 was particularly eventful. The company refurbished its venues in Bregenz, Velden, Salzburg and Vienna, and its eight casino restaurants flourished under the new Cuisino food and beverage brand.

The group’s 12 Austrian casinos welcomed a total of 2,504,422 guests in 2014, a rise of six per cent year-on-year. Revenues for Casinos Austria were up by 3.2 per cent to €271m.
