Genting has begun construction of its $4bn Resorts World project in Las Vegas.

The first phase, to be opened in 2015, will have themes targeting Asian visitors. Analysts say the project, which Genting took over in 2013 from Boyd Gaming Group, will create fresh competition for existing casino companies Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts International, Las Vegas Sands and Caesars Entertainment.

The first phase will include 3,000 gaming tables across a 100,000sq.ft area. There will also be 22 villas and 45 shopping and eating options.

Once finished the resort will include three hotel towers, an observation deck, a giant aquarium, a terra cotta warrior exhibit and a replica of the Great Wall.

In addition, there are plans for a theatre, a convention centre and a theme park. The development is set to generate 11,000 permanent jobs in Nevada, currently facing high rates of unemployment.
