The formation of a committee dedicated to studying the development of casinos in Japan is under way.

The committee will consist of officials from various government agencies, according to Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga. Part of the committee’s agenda will be to look at gaming regulatory set-ups in other countries with casinos, Suga said.

This comes as Japan’s Diet is set to pass a bill legalising casinos this autumn. A second bill would be introduced the following session, setting up the regulations for rolling out casinos.
