Albert Yu has had quite a broad range of experience in terms of sales, merchandising, sourcing, manufacturing and branding.

“I have spent eight years in the photographic, travel and premium items industries, with OEM/ODM production lines in mainland China,” he told InterGaming.

“There were frequent trips to China for production follow-up and factory and vendor visits were weekly routines. Exhibiting at trade shows in Hong Kong, China, Las Vegas and Germany annually was also part of my job duties.

“I would also be designing and drafting sketches for camera bags and traveling cases for sampling purposes. I simply did a lot of different things that kept me busy all the time, but it was an extremely valuable experience.”

So what made him decide to go into the gaming industry? “It was a referral from one of my good friends, whom I worked with in my previous job. It definitely was not something I had planned; it was sort of out of the blue. The opportunity arose and I simply took a leap of faith. After all, gaming does sound very interesting and challenging, therefore I decided to give it a try. “My previous experience is definitely of use although in a completely different field of business. Previous experiences in the operations side of how a company runs were also beneficial as I could apply them to operating procedures in our Aruze office in Macau. Sales does what sales does and it does not really matter which industry you are in.
