In the US, Suffolk Downs has dropped Caesars Entertainment as its partner in pursuing the Boston gaming licence.
This could put Hard Rock and Rush Street Gaming back in the Massachusetts casino race as Caesars’ replacement. Apparently, regulators informed Suffolk Downs that Caesars might not be found suitable for a casino licence because of a relationship with an individual who might have family members associated with organised crime.
Suffolk Downs then decided to drop Caesars as its casino partner. Caesars agreed to leave the project but accused the gaming commission of “attempting to set suitability requirements that are arbitrary, unreasonable and inconsistent with those that exist in every other jurisdiction.”
