GAMBLING can be a fun and lucrative journey, however it is human nature that can fail.

Because casino-type games sometimes take little-to-no skill to play, are quick, work on a highly rewarding variable ratio schedule and offer continuous play with few if any breaks, there is a risk of addiction.

Thus, understanding the psychological principles of human nature and following the new gaming market expansions in several jurisdictions is a must. Additionally, it is important to develop responsible gaming tools, initiatives and programmes that minimise the potential harm associated with excessive gambling and protect minors and vulnerable groups.

It is more important than ever for operators, regulators, policymakers and vendors to place high priority on player protection. It is essential to implement responsible gaming solutions across all facets of the gaming industry in order to achieve these goals:

• Prevention of player addiction • Privacy protection • Prevention of minors and vulnerable groups from being exploited • Protection of player funds • Exclusion of unlicensed and illegal operators from the market

There is a rise in awareness among governmental bodies that responsible gaming policies are needed and technology is stepping up in this area as well. Its role is to help identify and define responsible gaming guidelines and solutions and to develop them accordingly. We can speak about traditional responsible gaming approaches and contemporary responsible gaming tools that vendors helped to develop.
