The crackdown on illegal gaming in China as part of the government’s anti-corruption drive has led to the punishment of 7,162 officials from more than 30 cities and provinces.

Some officials had been accused of taking bribes on mahjong games. Along with visa restrictions, China’s anti-corruption drive has, in part, been blamed for the slowdown in Macau gaming revenues over the last few months.

Punishments for those charged in the anti-corruption efforts range from warnings to administrative punishments.
